LIUCM was established In 1972 in a covenant made by five denominations committed to providing a ministry in higher education on Long Island, and committed to doing so together.
From its beginning, LIUCM has worked at the creative interaction of Church, University, and Community in responding to the needs and opportunities in each. It is the only bi-county agency committed to joining Church, University, and Community together In addressing common mission concerns.

These ministries draw upon local congregational involvement.
